Erich Fromm Institute

The Erich Fromm Institute Tübingen (EFIT) is a one-of-a-kind Fromm research center. It houses Erich Fromm’s reference library as well as his literary estate (with original typescripts, handwritten drafts, and other documents).

Here you will find a comprehensive collection of the literature about Erich Fromm, a media center with audio and videos by, with, and about Erich Fromm, and publications and documents of the International Erich Fromm Society. Also, replications of the 1930s and 1940s papers Fromm deposited at the New York Public Library are available in the Erich Fromm Institute Tübingen.

The Erich Fromm Institute Tübingen is is open to the public.

Opening Hours

The opening hours are

Thursday and Friday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On Saturdays at 3 p.m., a free guided tour of the institute takes place in German.

From December 23 until January 3 the Institute will be closed.
